Georgia Buck

A while back I saw where someone had taken a mounted deer and covered it in maps. I set out to do the same using a wooden white tail deer puzzle and a map of Georgia.

Supplies
  • Wooden Puzzle
  • Map
  • Matte Mod Podge
  • Paint Brush
  • White Spray Paint
  • Craft Knife
  • Scissors
  • Brayer

I got the Wooden Puzzle from Books-A-Million
and paid a few dollars for it.

How To:
1. Spray Paint the animal white. I only gave each side one coat and it turned out fine. Once it's dry, take pieces out and remove the small inner pieces.

2. Place the pieces on the map and cut out a section big enough for it to wrap around the piece.

3. Mod Podge the map to the piece and use the brayer to get the air pockets out.

4. Take scissors and trip the extra map from around the pieces. Leave about half an inch on the sides.

5. Using the Mod Podge, carefully begin to wrap the map around the edges. In some places you'll need to cut a slit so it can wrap easier.

6. Use the Knife and carefully begin to cut the holes. I put a line down the center and used my fingernail and Mod Podge to get the two sides to stick.

7. Put a layer of Mod Podge on top and let it dry.
8. Put a layer of Mod Podge on the back where you wrapped the map behind.

9. Put a second coat of Mod Podge on top.
10. Once dry, figure out which pieces need to be two sided. For mine, I only needed the three neck pieces. Place the piece on your map and trace the section. When cutting out, cut a little smaller than your pieces so that you won't have to wrap the extra around again.

11. Mod Podge this section on and follow with two
coats to give it the finish.
    12. Assemble the animal according to the directions and hang it.
