Day 45 of 365
Day 45 - February 14
Sea Island Human Resources
On my first day back home along with a trip to the dentist, the last thing I wanted to do was go out and take a picture. I have found, though, that these days are usually when I get the best pictures. I have worked for Sea Island for a few years now and always considered this building to be our Human Resources. It was recently announced that the company is turning it into an Inn. Luckily the gates were open and I was able to get a few pictures before it was changed too much. It seems that the new Inn will be somewhere between The Cloister and a chain hotel in quality and service. It will be interesting to see how it is developed and what will become of the project.

Day 44 - February 13
Train Tracks
Hagan, Georgia
This is by far one of my favorite pictures I've taken for this yearlong project. There is something about a train and its tracks that interest me. I had just left for home after a 13 hour drive from Maryland to Georgia when i heard the train blowing its whistle from my grandparents house. I quickly drove up to the tracks and set up, getting a few as it was approaching and more after it had passed. The weather could not have cooperated anymore - soon after this was taken it began to flood and I finally made the last part of my trip to Saint Simons.

Day 43 - February 12
The Art of Candle Making
I am all for a little Do-It-Yourself project and my aunt has the same feeling. She owns a store on the Eastern Shore in St. Michaels, a town much like Saint Simons. Much of her store is dedicated to women's clothing but she also has handmade products, most of them being made by her. Candles are one of those. This was the first time I had ever made a candle and it was much easier than I imagined. These were scented as "Shore Smells" and are for sell in her shop. If you're ever on the Eastern Shore, pull into Saint Michaels and stop and see Yo! NETime Designs is located at 404 Talbot Street in Saint Michaels, Maryland. Her website is www.netimedesigns.com.

Day 42 - February 11
Apple Pie
Being from the South, there are a few things you grow up loving whether you like it or not. Apple Pie is one of those. Everyone makes theirs different and everyone has their preference.

Day 41 - February 10
Baltimore, Maryland
While visiting family in Maryland, we crossed the Chesapeake and headed for a day trip into Baltimore. This was the first time that I had truly been to the city and my experience was great. We spent much of the day at the Aquarium and it was great - though no Aquarium compares to ours in Georgia! The Ravens had won the Super Bowl the previous Sunday and the excitement was still alive in the city. I can't wait to get back to Baltimore and if I was forced to live in a big city, Baltimore is pretty much at the top of the list.

Day 39 - February 39
Harris Crab House
Kent Island, Maryland
After a week in New Jersey, my grandparents and I began our trip back South with a stop in Maryland. I had never had crab in this fashion and it was an experience in itself. A lot of work for a little meat is how I like to describe it. If you're ever in the area, this is a definite stop and I recommend getting a Nutty Buddy for dessert.

Day 34 - February 3
Snow in Monroe, New Jersey
On a trip to my Mama's in New Jersey, I finally got to see snow for the first time this year. I hate the stuff and much prefer my South Georgia sand over it, but nonetheless its always great to look at.

Day 32 - February 1
Curve
I chose to get this days picture at my grandparents home in Hagan, Georgia. They live on a curve and I love playing with a slow shutter speed.

Day 26 - January 26
Highway 17 crossing the Darien River
Darien is one of my favorite towns near Saint Simons. About 20 minutes to our north, it is a town that still relies on the seafood industry as most cities up the coast were at one point. They don't take shrimping season lightly and its the main source of income for a lot of its residents. It has held on to its small town charm and hasn't sold out to commercialization. It was originally the southernmost part of the British Empire as their outpost, Fort King George. The Fort is still open today as a National Park.
